Despite the dampened spirit which may have been felt following the
close encounter of Hurricane Omar last week, the International Soca
Awards (ISA) held at the Marriott (in the Grand Ballroom) last Saturday
revved a hot and brightened atmosphere of the up-tempo and energetic
gyration associated with the jump-up music genre.
BASSETERRE,
St. Kitts – THE 6th Annual International Soca Awards came to an end at
the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Ballroom on Saturday, Oct. 18 with a poor
turnout that did not warrant an event of such importance.
LAUDERHILL — Marking its sixth year, the Broward Caribbean Carnival has
become an exceptional cultural experience and spectacular display of
colors, cuisine and costumes.
Last Sunday, Oct. 12, many people woke up early to prepare their
masquerade costumes, grab a flag from one of the 25 Caribbean islands,
and head to the annual event to revel in a full day of fun, festivities
and national pride.
Although meteorologists throughout South Florida predicted that
scattered rain storms would drench the day, it didn't stop thousands
from coming out to the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill.
BASSETERRE,
St. Kitts – OFFICIALS of the Soca Awards Organisation (SAO) have
released a statement indicating that Hurricane Omar has not hindered
their event and “the show must go on”.
The 6th Annual International Soca
Awards (ISA) scheduled for Saturday, October 18 will now be held at the
St. Kitts Marriott Hotel’s Ballroom and not the hotel’s Events Centre
as previously advertised.
